What is ventilation?

Ventilation is mainly used to control indoor air quality by diluting and displacing indoor pollutants; it can also be used to control indoor temperature, humidity, and air motion to benefit thermal comfort, satisfaction with other aspects of indoor environment

Do we need ventilation?

Poor ventilation in a home can lead to the growth of mould and bacteria growth which are causes of illness.

Moisture build up from cooking, washing, drying clothes, showering and general living builds up in the air and is released on to cold surfaces. The moisture then encourages mould, fungus and bacteria to grow and release spores into the air. Without adequate ventilation this creates an unhealthy environment in the home.

How does the Lossnay ventilation system work?

The Balanced Pressure Lossnay Heat Recovery Ventilation System removes stale, dirty air and draws in fresh air from outside. Lossnay also recovers heat energy from the air being transferred to pre-warm (or pre-cool) the fresh air being drawn into your home.

What are the benefits of a ventilation system?

Our top five benefits of a home ventilation system are;

  1. Health benefits. A good ventilation system removes pollutants, mould and bacteria spores, odores, moisture, CO2 and a range of other items from the homes indoor air. This reduces the likelihood of respiratory issues, illness, mould build up in the home.

  2. Stops Condensation. Moisture build-up appears on cold surfaces like windows. Introducing fresh air to your home removes moisture from your home and stops the growth of mould, fungus and bacteria.

  3. Air Movement. By introducing healthy air at room temperature the ventilation system will provide a comfortable environment for the home. Dry air is easier to heat than moist air creating a comfortable efficient space for the home owners.

  4. Energy efficiency. Dry air is easier to heat than moist air so less energy is required to heat the home space.

  5. Security. When you are away from home you don’t have to open up your windows to ventilate the home.

Do modern homes need ventilation?

Older homes didn’t require a lot of ventilation due to the amount of air leaks through older windows and doors. This made older homes colder however they we more ventilated. As we have added features to new homes to make them warmer, such as double glazed windows and insulation standards they have become airtight. This causes a ventilation issue as air can no longer escape and be replaced with new outside air. A ventilation system can be beneficial to a new home due to the air tightness of new technology.
